Modules have become a prevalent means of instruction in technology and engineering education. Like all instructional techniques, modular instruction has some benefits and some detriments. One potential detriment is that most modules are developed and marketed by vendors, which can lead to a “vendor driven curriculum.” However, many technology and engineering educators had developed self-paced instructional modules well before the term modules became a household term in our profession.
Quite relevant 20 years ago, instructional modules can be used as a means of supplementing or delivering instruction.
Your challenge will be to develop an instructional module from scratch using limited materials and budget, and within a limited amount of time — just like in a real classroom.
